Job Description: MOT Foreman

Southland Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. Southland has employed as many as 205 full time experienced people with a wide variety of talents second to none in the construction industry. We perform services for both public and private clients with jobs ranging from $200,000 to $100 million. 

 

SCI is looking for individuals with knowledge of the traffic control industry and preferably prior crew leader experience. Prior traffic control or road construction experience is required. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Positioning temporary work zones including: set-up and tear-down, utilizing traffic cones and warning signs per FDOT standards and requirements, and conducting lane closures/detours. 

• Supervising and maintaining traffic through work zones during the construction period. 

• Aid in and integrate MOT activities; serve as liaison with utilities and districts to maintain project coordination.

• Supervise all activities of traffic control technicians and traffic control specialists.

• Assist in administering MOT policies and standards. 

• Work with local law enforcement in accident responses. 

• Maintain regular attendance.

• Work a flexible schedule.

Requirements:

​

• Experience in reading traffic control plans 

• Knowledge of state and local roadways 

• Previous MOT experience is required

• FDOT intermediate or advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification and interstate experience is a plus

• Must be able to pass a drug test and have a clean driving record
