Southland Construction, Inc. is a general contractor providing vertical, heavy highway, and utility construction services in Florida since 1977. Southland has employed as many as 205 full time experienced people with a wide variety of talents second to none in the construction industry. We perform services for both public and private clients with projects ranging from $200,000 to $100 million.
The Superintendent will assist the project manager in all aspects/phases of the projects, both in the office and the field, including start-up, scheduling, submittals, quality control, project safety, cost control and ultimately, the total delivery of the project according to the established plans and specifications.
Responsibilities:

Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications

Prepare work schedule, determine manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and supervise completion of final punch list

Site Health and Safety officer, Promote job site safety, encourages safe work practices

Conduct onsite meetings and distribute schedule updates and meeting minutes

Complete daily reports

Advise Project Managers of potential problems, work interference, and schedule difficulties; assist in resolving problems as required

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management

Must be computer literate with the ability to submit all payrolls electronically

Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications:

5+ yrs. experience in Heavy Highway construction

Prior experience with drainage, sewer, water, site improvements, and retaining walls is preferred
-
High School Diploma or GED required
-
Strong communication skills;
-
Strong organizational skills to keep that project on schedule and on track
